Halloween 2014

Hi everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Halloween.

I don't know about you, but I enjoy making myself look creepy for halloween.

So today I'm writing a quick blog post, to show you what I wore!

My "costume" is not anything specific, it's just a plain, large white t-shirt.

On a thin paintbrush I carefully painted on some white lines, then smudged them a bit. I let that dry then I added fake blood. You can use more or less blood depending on how you want it to look.

With that I just wore some black leggings and some vans.

Now onto my face.

What I used:
Black & purple eyeshadow
Black eyeliner
Black lipstick
Grey eyeshadow

I applied the black & purl eyeshadow to my eyelids and under my eyes quite messily to give myself that dead/tired look.

Then I used a black eyeliner in my water line, and to create some easy scars on the sides of my face.

Then the black lipstick on my lips, although I could've use red.

And I applied the grey eyeshadow to the hollows if my cheeks just to make my face look even more dead and slim.

And that's all I did! Pretty basic but looks quite cool in my opinion.

What did you dress up as for halloween? Let me know!!

I hope you had a wonderful day and I'll speak to you soon.

Bye!

Hair Care

Hi everyone, my laptop just crashed so I'm having to re-write this post :(

Today I am going to be sharing my hair care "routine".

I know this isn't the most interesting post, but for those of you who are interested, I hope you enjoy!

I wash my hair every other day because I honestly don't need to wash it everyday and it's bad for your hair.

For my shampoo & conditioner I use the Garnier Fructis Volume Extend. If you have really dry hair I don't recommend this because it's very light and fresh. But if you have dry hair and still want to try it out then scroll down and have a look at my favorite leave in conditioners. Oh, one more thing, these smell AMAZING.

Because my hair is a bit dry, and the conditioner I use isn't very effective, I like to use a conditioning mask once or twice a week. Recently, I've been using the Garnier Fructis Damage Eraser. It says to apply this from the roots to the tips of your hair, but when I do that my hair tends to get a bit oily, so I'd recommend just using this on the ends.

Out of the shower I use 2 leave in conditioners.

I use the L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil when I get out of the shower on my wet/damp hair. I use one pump on my hands and comb it through the ends of my hair.

On days that I don't wash my hair, it tends to look a bit dull and dry. To add some shine and moisture, I use the Tresemme Keratin Smooth leave in conditioner. Again, I just apply this to the ends of my dry hair. And if you have curly hair, any product with Keratin in is perfect.

And that's all I do to my hair! I hope this helped some of you & I hope you enjoyed!

Leave your favorite hair product in the comments for me and everyone else to see!

Thank you so much for reading, let me know what you want to see next week.

Please share this, it really helps me out! :)

I'm Still Here | MadForBeauty

                            Hey everyone!

I hope you're all having a wonderful day. I'm sorry for my absence recently, I honestly don't have the best excuse!

I'm back at school at the moment and I'm struggling to find time to write good quality posts.

This is just a really quick blog post on my updated "schedule":

I don't want to pressure myself into publishing on a certain day. I'm planning on writing when I feel comfortable and inspired. I'm going to review all new products I try, and I'm going to be writing about life style related things! I'm also going to attempt to post on my social media pages, but I don't have many followers and I don't think anyone's THAT interested! But if you would like to see some more of me on your social media then do let me know! :)

I hope you're all okay with these changes! I will be more active during holidays and things like that, but if I'm gone for a week or too don't worry, I'm still here and replying to ANY comments! :)

As always, leave your ideas in the comments xx

Thank you for reading and sticking with me, stay tuned for another post!

Questions & Answers

Hey everyone, hope you are all having a wonderful day.

Today I am answering your questions that I asked you to "submit" a couple of weeks ago. OF course this isn't the only Q&A that I will be writing, so if you have a question that I didn't answer, feel free to ask me in the comments or on my Instagram which is linked here.

Quick note: I've changed the font on my blog posts! Let me know what you think, I can't decide wether I like it or not!

On with the questions! :)

What are your top 3 makeup products that you could not live without?

Hmmm... that's a tough one. I would have to say concealer, powder, and mascara. If lip balm counts as a makeup product then I would replace concealer with lip balm.

What is your favorite color?

Maroon/burgundy or a light blue.

What aims do you have for your blog?

I don't really have plans for my blog at the moment, of course I'd like it to become successful, but for now I just wan't to please my readers with new and original content every week :)

Do you have any siblings?

Yes I have 1 older brother.

What is your favourite brand? Beauty and fashion x

My favorite beauty brand at the moment is probably Rimmel, I love their face products & my favorite fashion brand... hmm I'm not sure, I like the Kendall & Kylie range at Pacsun but I'm not sure if I'd count it as my favorite...

I'm looking for an intense smokey eye palette for the fall. Which one would you suggest?

This all depends on what colors you like, but I think a good, affordable, palette is one of the Wet n Wild eyeshadow palettes. They have a variation of colors and have great pigmentation!

What inspired you to start your blog?

Honestly? I was bored haha, but that's not the only reason. I love to write and I love everything beauty related so it's the perfect combination! I also love reading beauty & lifestyle blog posts, so if that's you, let me know so I can check it out! I'm always discovering new blogs, and I'd love to find some more.

What is your favorite beauty item at the moment?

I want to say mascara but I've used that answer already haha. I painted my nails yesterday and I am IN LOVE. I usually get them done professionally, but instead I did them  my self and I'm glad I did. Maybe I'll do a blog post on my favorite nail varnishes... Anyway, I'll say that that's my favorite beauty item at the moment.

And that's all the questions I received!

Big thanks to all of you who took the time to ask me these questions, it's an easy way for you to get to know me a bit better.

Thank you so much for reading, please let me know what blog posts you'd like to see! I reply to all comments so if you're curious about something just ask!

Stay tuned for next weeks post!

Bye!!

Mad For Favorites | September

Hi everyone, hope you are all have a great day.

Today I'm doing my first ever monthly favorites post, Mad For Favorites.

I probably won't do this every month because my favorites don't change that often but I will do it from time to time.

This may not be the most exiting post, and these aren't all beauty related, but if you want to know what I've been enjoying this month then stay tuned! :)

1. Flat Top Buffing Brush

First is this makeup brush. Let me start off by saying, I LOVE this. It's really nice quality, and blends my makeup in nice and smoothly. I use this when blending in my concealer, I buff the areas that just needs a bit of coverage, and pat all blemishes. I think that makes sense haha. I don't have expensive brushes, although I really want some, but the quality of this brush is amazing. I bought it from Target and that's all I can really say because I can't remember how much it was, sorry, I believe it was around $5.00, but don't quote me on that.

2. Shirts or Flannels

Next I've been loving wearing this flannel, or shirt however you may say it. This one is my FAVORITE because it's so comfy and casual. I like to wear this with some simple black leggings and my grey converse, or black wedged heels. Maybe I'll do an OOTD? Let me know if you'd like to see that. I bought this quite a while ago from Wet Seal, for about $20-$25.

3. Kellog's Nutri Grain

Quick disclaimer: I don't eat these because they claim to be healthy.
I recently discovered these, and they taste so amazing. If you're like me and you're too lazy to eat in the mornings before work or school, then you'll enjoy these, as long as you like apple and cinnamon of course. They're really handy just to eat in the car when you're in a rush (please don't eat and drive though haha). If you like cinnamon then these are definitely for you because the taste is quite strong. I think they're supposed to also give you a quick boost of energy? Correct me if I'm wrong.

4. Afterlight

Afterlight is an iPhone App for editing pictures and I LOVE it. It's my all time favorite editing app. I use it on all of my pictures on my personal Instagram and sometimes on my blog instagram @madforbeautyxo (If you go to my instagram from here, follow me and comment your blog name on one of my posts so I can follow you too!). If you're a fan of Kendall & Kylie Jenner then you'll like this because they use it ALOT. It's $0.99 on the Apple iTunes Store.

5. My Phone

Of course I have been loving my phone. Not much to say about that! Would you guys like to see a "What's On My iPhone" blog post? If so, please comment! I have the iPhone5s in gold, have any of you got the 6? Please excuse how dirty phone is, I hardly ever take the case off, I really need to clean it haha.

6. Beats

These use to be my brothers, but he got new ones so he gave them to me. Beats are so amazing, although I don't use them as much as I should.

 7. One Moment Perfume

Yes, I do like One Direction, but that's not the main reason why I bought this perfume. I can't describe the smell in many words but amazing. If you don't like 1D, doesn't matter. This is so worth $50. I'm interested in trying their new perfume, have you tried it? Also, the packaging is so cute!

8. Carmex Cherry Lip Balm

I think on one of my blog posts I mentioned the original carmex lip balm, which is just as amazing as this one, but I love the cherry scent/taste of this one! It's a very moisturizing lip balm, and good at healing dry or damaged lips. I don't think they're very expensive. You can buy them in most drugstores, I think you can get them in the UK.

9. Chains

I know this is a weird thing to put on a favorites list, but I've been seriously loving chains lately! Only there's one problem.. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO WEAR THEM. I have this gorgeous one from Guess, it's a rose-gold color, and I really want to wear it. I have a couple of times but I don't know how to style my outfit with it... Love it anyway!

10. Bath & BodyWorks

And last but not least is this hand gel from bath and bodyworks. I love most of the scents, but this is my favorite at the moment. Warm Vanilla Sugar, ahhh, it makes me thing=k of warm hugs... haha. It smells amazing, and lasts for a while. It is quite strong so if you're sensitive with that sort of thing I wouldn't recommend it. My all time favorite one is the Stress Relief one, works like a charm! I don't have it at the moment unfortunately. But I highly recommend it!

And that's all I have for today!

I know this isn't the most exiting blog post, but I hope you enjoyed it!

For those of you wondering, the Q&A should be here shortly.

Thank you so much for watching, stay tuned for next week!

Bye!

Top 4 Eyeliners | Drugstore & High End

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a great day.

I'm sorry that this blog post is late, but I am pre-writing some posts so that I can always upload on time! :)

I know some of you where expecting a Q&A post but I don't have very many questions at the moment so I'd rather wait until a couple more come through, so if you'd like to know anything about go comment your question on this blog post:
Today I'm doing a Top Products post on my favorites eyeliners.

3 of these are drugstore, and the other one is high end. I have other eyeliners that I like but these are my absolute favorite.

I'm not going to ramble too much today, just going to jump straight into it!
These are the 4 eyeliners that I have been loving! Three of them are black and one of them is a flesh toned or nude color. I don't really wear brown eyeliners but if you don't like the colors I have selected then you can always try them in different colors.

1. Sephora Eyeliner

This is the only drugstore eyeliner in my favorites, and it's amazing! It's not the easiest eyeliner to apply, but I love the way it looks, it leaves almost a glossy finish. The applicator is quite thick so this isn't ideal for a thin, natural line. I know that this comes in many colors, so if black isn't for you then you have a nice selection. This was around $12 and I've had it for a very long time and it hasn't dried out or anything.

2. NYX Eye and Eyebrow Pencil

The next eyeliner I'm sharing with you is by NYX. It's a pencil eyeliner, apparently it can also be used for eyebrows, but it's a little too creamy and unnatural in my opinion! These come in loads of different shades. It's very pigmented, and glides on so smoothly. It lasts for quite a while but it will start to fade after a couple of hours. I like too use this on my waterline and tight line, and sometimes I apply it to my top lash line and smudge it out. These have a very good reputation, by that I mean great reviews. They're amazing for the price, which is $3.50!

Maybelline Master Precise

Next is another liquid eyeliner by Maybelline. Again, the shade I have it black, and I personally haven't seen any other shades, so let me know in the comments if you have. This is around $6.00, and it's definitely worth the money because it lasts for quite a long time, I have yet to finish mine. Of course I don't wear eyeliner every day but it's still going strong. The applicator isn't extremely flexible, which, in my opinion, makes it easier to apply. The brush is quite think, but again it's easy to apply meaning you can achieve a thin line. I really like this because I love eyeliners that have the product flowing through the applicator rather then having to dip the brush back in to the container every five minutes. This doesn't even dry out.

4. Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner

Last but not least, a Rimmel Eyeliner, in the shade 005 Nude. This is the first Rimmel eyeliner I've tried and I love it, obviously. It applies so smoothly and it's very pigmented. I use it on my waterline to make myself look more awake, I also use it all over my eyelid to make my eyeshadows look more pigmented. This costs around $4.00 -$5.00 and is a good size for the price.

And those are my 4 favorite eyeliners at the moment!

I really want to do a Q&A so ask me questions below, I need 5 more then I'll do it! Ask as many as you like! More information here.

Also please let me know what you're favorite eyeliners are, and also feel free to recommend some to me.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope this was helpful for some of you!

Stay tuned for next weeks post, bye!!xx

Not Your Mother's Dry Shampoo | Review

Hey everyone, hope you are all having a good day.

Sorry this isn't the most interesting post ever but some of you might want to see it! It's just a simple review, I'll do these from time to time so comment any product that you'd like to see me review below!

Not Your Mother's CLEAN FREAK Refreshing Dry Shampoo is what I'm reviewing today.

I'd like to point out that I don't use dry shampoo everyday. I wash my hair every other day, and if I see that its a little bit oily, I'll apply some of this. The reason I wash my hair every other day is because washing it everyday is bad for it, you're basically washing out all of the natural oils in your hair, causing it to dry out and get damaged.

I'm going to start with packaging, because that's almost as important as the product for me. I honestly really like the packaging, is it weird to say it looks refreshing? Probably, but it does! It's a decent size and doesn't feel "cheap", as in bad quality. Apart from that there's really nothing to say about the packaging, it's pretty basic.

QUICK TIP : Apply dry shampoo the night before rather then in the morning, I don't really know why this works better, but it honestly does. I think it's because it has more time to absorb the product, correct me if I'm wrong.

This product smells SO good, really fresh... I can't describe smells haha, sorry!

Onto the actual product. Pros & cons:

Pros of the dry shampoo: It absorbs excess oils, leaving my hair looking healthy. It lasts for a good amount of time, I don't find myself reapplying it every 2 hours. It also gives my hair a lot of volume.

Cons of product: It is a little bit drying and if you spray too much into one area it sometimes leaves a powdery finish which is not the easiest thing to brush out.

Also on the back there are instructions on how you're supposed to apply it, so I'll summarize that for you: Spray generously throughout hair, then brush through to diffuse powder.

I have heard good & bad things about this product but it works for me. This obviously won't be the best product for everyone, it all depends on your hair type. So if you don't like this product feel free to tell everyone why in the comments.

And that is all I have to say about this product!

Thank you so much for reading, I appreciate it! I hope this was somewhat helpful for you.

I was thinking about doing a Questions & Answers post next week so that you can all get to know me a bit better, so ask any questions below and I'll answer them! If I get at least 10 I'll do the post, if not I'll just answer them in the comments, feel free to ask more than one question!

Stay tuned for next weeks post!

10 Beauty Tips You Need To Know

Hey everyone, hope you are all having a good day.

Today I'm writing about beauty tips that I use daily, you may or may not know some of these. They aren't mind-blowing facts, but they are somewhat helpful.

Feel free to let me know about any other beauty tips that I might have missed :)

First Tip:

Before applying your mascara, apply a small amount of baby powder. This makes you lashes look fuller and longer, make sure you don't get it in your eyes though!

Second Tip:

Use a white or nude eyeliner on your waterline to look wide awake.

Third Tip:

Put tape on the outer edge of your eye, lined up with your nose and eyebrow for the perfect winged eyeliner!

Fourth Tip:

Apply a small amount of bronzer under your bottom lip to create a shadow and make them look bigger and poutier.

Fifth Tip:

Use a dark pencil eyeliner in your tight line to make your lashes look thicker.

Sixth Tip:

Apply under-eye concealer in a v-shape, this will make you look 10 times more awake.

Seventh Tip:

Instead of a primer, use a creme eyeshadow or eyeliner on your eyelid before applying eyeshadow to make the colors more vibrant and pigmented.

Eighth Tip:

Apply mascara to the roots/base of your eyelashes rather then to the ends to make them look fuller and longer rather then thick and clumpy.

Ninth Tip:

Don't have a blush? No problem! Use your lipstick as a blush, dot it on your cheeks and use two fingers to blend it out.

Tenth Tip:

Put a pencil eyeliner under your hairdryer until it starts to slightly melt, then use it as a liquid/gel eyeliner!

Bonus Tip:

Braid your hair and then go over it with a straightener for instant curls.

And thats all the tips!

I hope some of these were helpful for you, these may not work for everyone, so give them a go and let me know what you think!

I was thinking about doing a Questions & Answers post next week so that you can all get to know me a bit better, so ask any questions below and I'll answer them! If I get at least 10 I'll do the post, if not I'll just answer them in the comments, feel free to ask more than one question!

Thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed, if you did please share this as it really helps me out!

Stay tuned for next weeks post!
