Top 2 Primers - Top 2 Drugstore BB Cremes

Hi everyone! I haven't posted in a couple of weeks because I've been away for a while and I got back last night, but I'm now back to my regular schedule of posting every week.

I have finally found a perfect layout for my blog, and a nice customized header, which I love. I won't be making any dramatic changes to my blog for a while, so don't expect to see a new blog layout every time you check my blog, I have just been testing some out.
For those of you who are wondering, it is just a simple blogger template, all I have done is made some simple change in customize under template. I have also customized the phone view of my blog, I've just made it A LOT easier to use, if you don't already have the blogger app then you won't know what I'm talking about, so feel free to download it on the app store and check out my blog from your phone or tablet! If you have any questions on my blog layout, feel free to ask in the comments or sending me an email at - madforbeautyxoxo@gmail.com

On to the beauty...

I personally don't wear foundation because I find it way to 'cakey' and I hate the feeling of it on my skin. I'd much rather stick to a BB creme and some concealer, which looks a lot more natural. I'm sure there are some amazing foundations that are low coverage, but I like my current face routine, so let me share some of my favorites with you! :)

I'm going to start with primers, as that is the first thing I put on my face. I know many people don't use primers because they don't need to, but it honestly makes a huge difference. I have quite oily skin so I'd rather stick to matt finishing primers, but there are dewy finishing primers for those who have dry skin.

Before applying my BB creme, I use this Rimmel Stay Matte Primer which I absolutely LOVE. This, like I said, is a primer for oily skin to keep it looking matte throughout the day, it claims to work for 8 hours, which sounds amazing, but mine doesn't last that long, it lasts about 4-6 hours, which is still great, and it lasts even longer when followed by the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. The consistency of this primer is very thick and it doesn't take much to cover my entire face. Once it's applied, I leave it for about 30 seconds to dry, and I can notice the oil on my face starts to disappear. This isn't a skin tone adapting primer, as it disappears into the skin.

Next, I apply some of the Benefit Porefessional. I don't apply this everywhere, only to the places where my pores are noticeably larger, which for me is around my nose and on my chin. This doesn't make your pores disappear but it does make them a lot smaller. You only need a small amount of this, it's quite a thin consistency and blends amazingly.

Garnier on the left, Mabelline on the right.

Above you will see two BB Cremes, Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Creme and Garnier Skin Renew BB creme. In case you are unfamiliar with what a BB creme is, it's a products used to blur our any imperfections and even out your skin tone in the most natural way possible. The only thing that I don't like about BB cremes is that they make my skin oily, especially Maybelline Dream Fresh. Because it's such a thin consistency, it doesn't last well on my skin and makes it look oily and gross, whilst the Garnier Skin Renew works really well with my primers and keeps the matte finish, although it doesn't last quite as long. The Garnier one is quite a bit bigger than the Maybelline one, and you don't have to use as much as the consistency is thicker. So the Garnier BB Creme lasts longer then the Maybelline BB Creme. Also the Garnier adapts to my skin better. But in the end, they're both really good BB Cremes, depending on your skin type.

After applying a primer and BB Creme, I apply concealer. I already have a blog post on my Top 3 Concealers, so feel free to check that out here - Top 3 Drugstore Concealers

If you have anything else to say about these product feel free to say it in the comments below, and also let me know what your favorite Primer or BB Creme is, as I always love trying out new products!

If I have said anything about these products that may have offended you, please don't take it personally, you may absolutely love these and I may have said something you disagree with but these are my opinions, and face products don't always work the same on different skin types, just keep that in mind. :)

Thank you so much for reading, and following if you enjoyed what you read!

Have a great day and I will post again sometime next week, bye!x

  4. I like using the Rimmel Fix & Perfect primer and featured it in my best Rimmel products post. I NEED to try the stay matte orimer but for some reason haven't got around to trying it haha. I've never been able to find a BB cream I like so I might try these two because I have oily skin as well.

This post was really helpful, thanks :*

  5. Great review. I've actually wanted to use a BB cream for a couple of years now, but I can't seem to find one that works well with extremely sensitive skin. Awesome blog as well. I'm now following you. :)
